Etnika, is a brand focused in the fusion of contemporary design and traditional textile from the ancient cultures of Mexico and the world.
This project was created by Fernanda Cervantes a fashion designer that has been traveling through Mexico and South America studying these different textile traditions. Discovering the transcendence of the textile work into the development of societies, and the long process of creating each thread of every piece and how its weaved the heart and soul of the weaver and his community.
As a manner of expressing respect and homage to these traditional practices, we create a bridge between ancient and modern cultures through clothing.
Our creations are one of a kind pieces with 100% natural and organic materials, plant base pigments and hand embroideries created by individual artists that belong to different ethnicities, working as a collective we honor their intellectual property and fair trade with the goal of helping these communities to find economic equity in our modern world with out of losing their indigenous identity
